»Zweigelt Rosé «
Origin
Our Rosé is made partly according to the saignée method (by taking some of the juice from the red wine maceration) and partly through the pressing of whole bunches from cooler sites. The basis of this wine is Zweigelt, with a little extra kick from a small amount of Pinot Noir (10 – 15%). Spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks.
Character
We wanted to produce a serious rosé, not sugar water. A wine that offers a lot of fruitiness and crisp acidity, but also a bit of body. This is not an early drinking wine, but a rosé that can also mature for 1 – 2 years. On the palate, it shows abundant cherry notes (from the Zweigelt) and good tension (from the Pinot Noir).
»Zweigelt Selektion«
Origin
Carefully selected vineyards and the Northern climate translate into a wine with a cool and light red wine style. Hand-picked, fermented on the skins for 7 – 10 days in stainless steel tanks, with spontaneous fermentation. The ageing takes place in stainless steel tanks but also in large acacia barrels.
Character
The Selektion aims to be a fruit-forward, very drinkable Zweigelt which is at the same time uncomplicated and versatile, for example as a pairing for white fish. And why not?
»Zweigelt vom Löss«
Origin:
Grapes from Grossriedenthal loess sites, Goldberg, Eisenhut and Diebsnest are hand-picked and fermented on the skins in stainless steel tanks. The Saignée component is then used for the Rosé (some of the juice from the red wine maceration is removed). The wine is matured in acacia barrels.
Character:
The Zweigelt from loess soils is also supposed to be a fruity, light-bodied red wine, but is meant to offer more body and depth than the Selektion. We practise cluster thinning in the loess-soil Zweigelt vineyards in order to reduce the yield dramatically and so considerably improve the grapes’ ripeness. The wine becomes more concentrated, but never too heavy.
»Zweigelt Luft & Liebe«
Origin:
Not only white but also red varieties, specifically Zweigelt, thrive in our Goldberg vineyard. We dedicate a great deal of attention to this grape variety: we take a lot of trouble to thin out the clusters in order to harvest healthy, loose bunches and ripe fruit.
Character:
After 2 – 3 weeks of skin contact, this lively and assertive wine ages in ancient acacia barrels for 18 months. It is bottled unfiltered, with only a minimal sulphur addition. After benefiting from much love and care in the vineyard and plenty of air during the ageing period, this wine presents beautiful red berry fruitiness, refreshing acidity and enormous drinking pleasure – with class!
